Folkestone-based photographer, Sarah Laferme, has been a professional photographer since 2013. Originally a newborn and family portrait photographer, Sarah ventured into videography, where she found joy in creating mainly family films and wedding highlight videos. 

After a viral illness in 2018 left her with a postal viral syndrome, she sought a holistic path to recovery. On that path to better health, Sarah discovered the benefits of sea swimming which became pivotal to her ongoing recovery and continues to be a key to her physical and mental well-being. 

Sarah blended her photography skills with her love of sea swimming, which brought about a perfect joining of her two passions. Sarah’s progression into ocean photography allowed her to experiment with photographing the ‘feeling’ of sea swimming. Sarah endeavors to capture the emotion surrounding the ever-changing environment of the sea. To Sarah, the ocean is an analogy to life; the ocean is both glorious and harsh, peaceful and turbulent. Through her imagery, Sarah hopes to inspire you to take the plunge! And perhaps in open water swimming, you too may find joy, health and the ability to embrace change.
